5-Axis / 3-Axis Laser Texturing

5-Axis/3-Axis Laser texturing is a process that involves using a high-powered laser beam to modify the surface of a material, creating intricate patterns and textures. The laser beam is precisely controlled to remove material from the surface in a controlled manner, creating a textured surface with a specific pattern or design.

At the beginning of the process, we receive a 3D model of the mold from the customer in .STP file format.

Chemical Etching

Application

Acid resist is applied on the surface where it protects the surface from being etched. Areas over which resist is not applied is exposed to acid and get etched leaving behind a desired texture.

The acid test makes the manufacturing defects visible for eg, welding/ polishing scratches, etc and hence is a very important step in chemical etching.

Check

During this phase, the mold is sandblasted to clean its surface and manually checked for texture accuracy and quality.
